BMW's X range has grown tremendously since the original Ugly Duckling E83 X3 hit the market in 2003. And because these crossovers and SUVs are now being sold in large numbers, it's worth the hard work of the engineers and designers. A contrast to the E83, which was half-hearted in every way, and the second generation F25 which was a lot better but still just OK by BMW's high standards.

This is the third-generation G01 (we'll stop with the nerdy model codes here) that was first unveiled in 2017 and got its mid-life facelift in 2021.
It would be hard to see too many differences on the outside, although BMW designers have rebuilt and enlarged the kidney grille (of course), while also lowering the headlights. There is also a slightly different front bumper, with the M Sport trim looking very angry.
The rear gets new lights and inside there's a digital dashboard and a 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system for all trim levels in the UK.
All X3s now get a hybrid powertrain in one form or another. We won't include the outrageous X3 M here, but the standard range is topped off by the six-cylinder mild-hybrid M40i and M40d (petrol and diesel if that wasn't immediately apparent). Lower four-cylinder options also get 48-volt MHEV support, while the X3 xDrive30e is a true plug-in hybrid that combines a four-cylinder petrol with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery for an all-electric range of 50 kilometers. .

The current X3 is up against some big contenders - the Audi Q5 is the benchmark for refinement, the Mercedes GLC for comfort, the Jaguar F-Pace for handling and space, the Porsche Macan for all-round chassis excellence. The recent price increases mean that the X3 is now also firmly in the Range Rover Velar area. And then there are the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and the Volvo XC60 to think about. Plenty of choice in this segment, isn't it?
Early signs are strong for the X3. He grew up. That might make it bulkier in cities, but it's a size that we know sells well — slightly larger than the first-generation X5. It also takes away some of the somewhat odd design of previous X3s. It uses the latest BMW surface ideas - lines that seem to emerge from a viscous skin - and puts them very comfortably.

Bmw X3 Hybrid Review 2022
The X3 has real class these days. But then it must be good, because the opposition has launched some big machines against it over the past half-decade. The argument is now so close that you will find another winner depending on your wants and needs.
The X3's chassis is both fun in corners and smooth over bumps. He is a great competitor in midfield. The engines and transmissions are usually fantastic to use and deliver decent economy too.
Inside it is spacious and civilized, with a large suitcase. Remember it has to be like this because it doesn't have a compact on the outside yet. It's also far from cheap, with prices starting well in the mid £40k. If you're looking for a mid-sized SUV that drives well and seats five comfortably, you're spoiled for choice, but of course the X3 is worth checking out. Just be sure to check out the 3 Series Touring while you are at the dealer.
Nothing escapes the interwebs, especially if the information comes from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, a website open to the public. The latest cars to be homologated in the People's Republic are the facelifted BMW X3 and its electric brother, the BMW iX3. These two models have not yet been unveiled worldwide, but the homologation process in China gives them a first look.

Like the China-bound versions, in the rendering above the X3 brings the M Sport package, which can be seen in the slightly aggressive styling and blackout trim. We're happy to report that the X3's grille isn't upset at this point, so naysayers needn't complain in that regard.
There is a major update to the facelifted model at the rear. As part of the Life Cycle Impulse, the X3 will get a redesigned taillight and a large pair of finished exhausts that will replace the rounded ends of the outgoing model. The vertical fans are also integrated into the rear bumper, but like many cars these days, they are probably fake.
Interior changes are also in order, but unfortunately they are not included in these views. You can expect an update of the BMW iDrive infotainment system, although this is as much as we know about the cabin changes of the renewed model.

BMW is slated to unveil the facelifted X3 and iX3 globally in June, though an exact date has yet to be announced. A redesigned BMW X3 is coming. Our first spy photos of our compact SUV arrived in our inbox in early August, showing the X3's front and rear adjustments. To bring this to life, Kolesa.ru's Nikita Chuiko already has a few renders showing what the final product might look like.
Most of BMW's mid-term revamps tend to be conservative, which is the approach taken in these renderings. The grille grows a bit, as is the trend with almost every car manufacturer these days. We have no reason to believe that the X3 will go in the same direction as the 4 Series, and that is reflected here. Thinner headlights and reshaped air intakes on the lower fascia could draw inspiration from the X5, as could the trapezoidal exhaust vents at the rear. Taillights also need to be a bit thinner, but the main takeaway here is that if you like the current X3, you'll probably like the new one too.
How accurate are these representations in the final product? That's a question that won't be answered until the new X3 is officially unveiled, of course, but our first prototype showed a car with standard dual exhausts at the rear. The exact size of the grill and the design of the lower air outlet may also vary slightly. The rest of the package should be the same X3 we've had since 2017, although minor changes to the interior trim could be encountered by the driver and passengers. However, these things are not depicted in these exterior views.

With our first glimpse of the X3 just days away from this post, it's probably a long wait before the reveal takes place. Even with minor changes, we're probably looking at a European unveiling sometime next year. That means that the US market may not see a redesigned X3 until the 2022 model year.
